Diet
Florida black bears are omnivores, meaning they eat
both plants and animals. However, 80% of their diet
is solely based on vegetable matter. On average the
black bear eats around 11-18 pounds of food per day.
Some of the delicacies you may observe a Florida black
bear dining on are acorns, berries, insects, and palmetto
hearts. It is also true that black bears do like honey,
but contrary to popular belief, black bears attack
bee hives for the protein filled bee larvae. The honey
is just icing on the cake!
